You make custom furniture in Faisalabad, half your orders already come from Lahore through Instagram, and you have finally decided to get a proper website. You message three people. The first replies within an hour with a single figure and one line: "WordPress, 5 pages, ready in 3 days." The second sends a PDF two days later with a list of pages, a CMS and "basic SEO". The third, an agency, asks for a call first, then sends a proposal with a number several times higher than the first.
All three say "website". They are not quoting the same thing. Below, we put those three typical quotes side by side, the cheapest, the mid-range and the agency, and show what each one usually includes, what it quietly leaves out, and what you will pay again next year whichever you choose. We will not throw rupee figures at you, because prices move and every scope is different. The line items are what explain the gap.
The cheapest quote usually comes from a solo freelancer working from a ready-made WordPress theme. For a small amount and a few days of work, you typically get:
What it leaves out matters more:
Honestly, this quote is not always wrong. If you are a home-based business that only needs an online visiting card with your number and a few photos, it can be enough. Just insist on two things: the domain in your name, and the admin login handed over on launch day.
The mid-range quote usually comes from a small studio or an experienced freelancer. It is the one that arrives as a written list, and that alone tells you something about how the project will be run.
Typically it includes a good template customised properly to your brand instead of a demo layout, a CMS (content management system: the admin panel where you edit text, prices and photos yourself), a separate page for each main service, a basic SEO setup with page titles, descriptions and a sitemap, and a short training session on editing.
The gaps are smaller, but they are real. Ask about each one before you sign:
For a clinic, a consultancy, a school or a showroom that wants calls and WhatsApp chats, a mid-range quote with those gaps closed is often the best value of the three.
Next to the first quote, the highest one looks like a rip-off. Read what is inside before you decide. A serious agency quote usually covers work the other two never mention.
A proper conversation about your customers, what they ask before buying, and what the site must do: bring calls, WhatsApp chats, bookings or orders. That conversation shapes every page that follows.
Pages designed around your business rather than a theme demo, and copy written around your customers' real questions, in English and sometimes in Urdu as well.
Form leads flowing into a CRM, an instant alert to your sales team, a booking calendar, or an online store with cash on delivery, bank transfer, JazzCash, Easypaisa or card payments. Each payment provider has its own approval process and asks for business documents, and the checkout has to be tested end to end. This is often the biggest single reason the agency number is higher.
Checking forms, buttons and payments on real phones and browsers, then fixing problems after launch without a fresh negotiation every time.
Is it worth it? If the website is meant to sell, take bookings or feed a sales team, usually yes. If you need five pages and a phone number, an agency is overkill, and a good agency will tell you so.
Write this out yourself with the three quotes in front of you. What follows is typical, not universal, so check each line against what you were actually sent:
Once it is written down this way, the gap between the three numbers stops looking random. It is the price of the lines the cheaper quotes leave blank.
Every quote says the site will be tested. Ask what that means. The honest answer is: every form submitted, every button pressed, every payment tried, on more than one phone and browser, before launch and again after big updates.
We are strict about this for a reason. On our own client dashboard, the microphone suddenly stopped working in the browser. No error on screen, nothing wrong with the design. The cause was one security header, a Permissions-Policy line that told the browser to block the microphone. The fix was a single line. Finding it took proper testing, because everything looked fine. Small settings like that sit inside every website, and the cheapest quote has no time budgeted to catch them.
The build is paid once. These come back:
Ask each developer to list these in writing alongside the quote. A cheap build with expensive renewals on the developer's account can end up costing more over two years than the mid-range quote would have.
Most confusing quotes come from a vague brief. You can fix that today, before you speak to anyone:
While the replies come in, watch for a price given before anyone asks about your business, promises like "first page of Google in a week" (nobody controls Google rankings), and portfolio links that are broken or painfully slow.
If the website is a visiting card, the cheapest quote with ownership fixed is fine. If it needs to bring calls and WhatsApp chats, the mid-range quote with content, speed and tracking added is usually the sweet spot. If it must take payments, handle bookings or feed a sales team, budget for the agency-level scope, whoever you hire.
When we quote web development at AMEVIX DIGITAL, we send exactly that line-by-line scope: pages, content, CMS, speed work, SEO setup, integrations and yearly costs, with the domain, hosting and admin access in your name. Website leads can land in one dashboard next to your WhatsApp inbox and CRM, instead of an email nobody reads. You can see how our packages work on the pricing page.
Already have a site and not sure whether to fix it or rebuild it? Ask for a website audit first. Or send your brief on WhatsApp at 0339 4285556 or through our contact page, and we will reply with an itemised scope you can put next to the other two quotes.
See how this looks in practice across our AI automation, custom CRM and lead generation services, or tell us the outcome you need.
Usually because they are not quoting the same website. The higher quote often includes design, content writing, speed work, SEO setup, integrations and support that the cheaper one leaves out. Ask both for an itemised quote and compare it line by line.
It can be, if you only need a simple online presence with your number and a few photos. Make sure the domain is in your name, you get the admin login, and the theme and plugins are properly licensed. If the site needs to bring leads or take payments, budget for more.
The pages, who writes the content, the design approach, CMS, speed work, SEO setup, integrations, revision rounds, testing, support after launch and yearly renewal costs. It should also say whose name the domain and hosting will be in. A single figure on WhatsApp is not a quotation.
Your name, or your company's, with you holding the login details for both. If they sit in the developer's account, moving your website or even renewing it can depend on someone you cannot reach. Make it a written condition before you pay.
Usually yes, because themes and plugins save development time. A custom-built site makes sense when you need special features, a system built around your own workflow, or tighter control over speed. Either way, you should be able to edit your own text and prices.
Yes, some costs repeat: domain renewal, hosting, sometimes business email, theme or plugin licences, and maintenance. These are separate from the one-time build. Ask for a written list before you sign so nothing surprises you next year.
In most cases yes, through the provider's merchant service or a payment gateway that supports them. Each provider has its own approval process and asks for business documents, so start early. The checkout must be tested properly before launch.
There is no fixed rule, but avoid paying the full amount upfront. Agree milestones such as design approval, development, testing and launch, and link each payment to one of them. That protects you and the developer.
Not automatically, and not on the first page by default. A correct SEO setup and a Google Search Console connection help Google find and understand your pages, but ranking takes good content, local signals and time. Be careful of anyone who guarantees a position.
It depends on how it is built, how fast it loads and whether you own the domain and hosting. Sometimes better content, speed fixes and a clear WhatsApp button are enough, and sometimes a rebuild costs less in the long run. AMEVIX DIGITAL offers a website audit if you want a second opinion based on facts.
