Try this before reading any further. Stand outside your shop, open Google Maps on your phone and type what a new customer would type: "AC repair near me", "dentist Gulberg", "bakery in Bahria Town". Look at the three businesses in the box under the map. If you are not one of them, the people nearby who want to pay someone today are calling one of those three. Not you.
Most of what decides that box is a free Google Business Profile and a few honest pages on your website, and you can fix both yourself. Below is the order we follow: which buttons to press, what to type, what to send customers on WhatsApp, and what goes on a city page. Nobody can promise you a place in that box, because Google decides it. A complete, active profile gives you a fair chance. A half-filled one gives you almost none.
Many shops already have a listing they never created: a customer added it, or an old employee set it up on his personal Gmail. A second listing on top of that creates duplicates that split your reviews. So check first.
Use a Gmail account the owner controls, ideally one made only for the business, so a manager who leaves cannot take the listing with him.
Go to business.google.com and choose to add your business. Here is what belongs on each screen.
Next, Google asks you to prove the business is real. It picks the method: a phone call or SMS, an email, a postcard or a short recorded video. Many new listings get the video.
The video is where people fail, usually because they film only the inside of the shop. Plan it before you press record:
A service-area business with no signboard can show its branded vehicle, tools and equipment instead. While review is pending, avoid changing your name, category or address.
Once verified, search your business name on Google while signed in, and your profile tools appear above the results. Click "Edit profile" and work through these.
Add additional categories only where they are true. Then write the description the way you would explain your business to a new customer on the phone: what you do, which areas you serve, what is different about you. For example: "Family dental clinic in Gulberg III, Lahore. Root canals, braces and teeth whitening. Evening appointments, female dentist available." No links, no wall of keywords.
Set your regular hours, then add special hours for Eid holidays and Ramadan timings. A customer who drives over at 9 pm in Ramadan because Google said you were open, and finds the shutter down, is exactly the person who leaves a one-star review that night.
List each service with a one-line explanation, and a price or price range if you are comfortable sharing it. People here ask "rate kya hai?" before anything else.
Click "Add photo" and upload real pictures: the signboard from the street, the inside, your team and finished work. Then use "Add update" every couple of weeks for an offer or news, like new clinic timings. Old photos and no updates make a listing look closed.
Reviews help you appear, and they decide who gets the tap once you do. Your customers already talk to you on WhatsApp, so ask there. In your profile tools, click "Ask for reviews" and copy the short link Google gives you.
Send it right after the job is done, while the customer is still pleased. Not a week later. Here is a Roman Urdu version you can adapt:
Assalam o Alaikum Ahmed sahib, aaj hamari team ne aap ke AC ki service ki thi. Umeed hai sab theek chal raha hai. Agar aap ko kaam acha laga ho to ek minute nikaal kar Google par review de dein. Is se naye customers ko hum par bharosa karne mein madad milti hai: [your review link]. Bohot shukriya!
And an English one for customers who write to you in English:
Hi Sara, thank you for coming to the clinic today. If you were happy with your treatment, would you mind leaving a short Google review? It takes about a minute and helps other families find us: [your review link]
A few rules keep you out of trouble:
Then reply to every review from the "Read reviews" screen. For an angry one, apologise once, state the facts briefly and offer to sort it out on WhatsApp. The next customer reads your reply more carefully than the complaint.
When we set up WhatsApp automation for service businesses, the review request goes out by itself when a job is marked complete in the CRM, in Urdu, Roman Urdu or English depending on how that customer writes. Sending it by hand from your phone works too, as long as it happens every time.
Google reads your website to confirm what you do and where. A useful city page, say "Solar Installation in Islamabad", contains:
Only make city pages where you really serve customers. Copying one page twenty times and swapping the city name gives Google twenty thin pages and gives you nothing.
Now the lesson from our own website. Google had us somewhere around position 70, and the writing was not the problem. Our canonical tags (a line in the page code telling Google which address is the real version of a page) and our sitemap were pointing to URLs that redirected somewhere else, so Google was being sent in circles. Fixing that was step one, before any new page went up. So open a few of your own page addresses, check they load without jumping to a different URL, and make sure your sitemap lists those final addresses. If that sounds like a foreign language, our web development team does exactly this kind of cleanup.
After a few weeks, click "Performance" in your profile tools to see calls, direction requests, website clicks and some of the searches that found you. Note them in a sheet once a month.
Two habits make those numbers trustworthy:
And answer fast. Someone who found you on Maps has the next two businesses one tap away.
If you have done all of this and still do not show up, something specific is usually wrong: a duplicate listing, the wrong primary category, or a website problem like ours. A local SEO audit from our SEO team will point to it, and you can see how we work with businesses across the country on our Pakistan page.

Yes. Creating, verifying and managing a Google Business Profile costs nothing, and you cannot pay Google to rank higher in the free map results. Google Ads can show you above the map, but those spots are marked as sponsored and are a separate cost.
Usually it is one of these: the primary category is too general, there is a duplicate listing splitting your reviews, the profile is half empty, or the person searching is simply closer to a competitor. Search your exact business name first. If you appear for that but not for your service, work on category, description, reviews and your website pages.
Record one continuous clip that starts on the street, shows your signboard clearly, then goes inside to show where you work. End with something only the owner has, like keys opening the shutter or business documents. Do not edit the video or add music.
Only if it is part of your real name on the signboard and documents. Adding keywords to the name breaks Google guidelines, competitors often report it, and the profile can be suspended. Put city and area names in your description, service areas and website instead.
Yes, as a service-area business. You verify with your real address, then hide it and list the areas you serve, such as specific sectors or towns. Do not use a virtual office or a friend's shop address, because Google can suspend profiles that do not match a real place.
Search your business name on Google while signed in to the owner account, then click "Ask for reviews" in the profile tools. Google gives you a short link you can copy and paste into WhatsApp. When a customer taps it, the review box opens directly.
No. Offering anything in return for reviews goes against Google policy, and so does asking only the customers you think are happy. Google can remove those reviews and restrict the profile. Ask everyone politely, right after the job, and leave it there.
You cannot delete reviews yourself. If it breaks Google rules, for example spam, abuse or someone who was never your customer, you can report it from the review. Either way, reply calmly with the facts, because future customers read your reply too.
Fixes like the right category, correct hours and real photos can change what customers see within days. Reviews, website pages and fixing technical problems build up over a few months. When we take on a local SEO job, we track calls and direction requests monthly instead of promising a date, because Google controls the ranking.
You can get calls from the profile alone, but a website with clear service and city pages helps Google trust what you say about your business and where you work. It also gives customers prices, photos and a WhatsApp button in one place. AMEVIX DIGITAL can check both together in an audit if you are unsure where you stand.
