At 10:40 on a weeknight, a woman calls a dermatology clinic in Jumeirah. She opens in Arabic and asks whether the doctor sees patients on Saturday. Then she switches to English to ask if her insurance card is accepted. Then she starts describing a rash that has spread since the morning.
A well-built AI voice agent handles the first two questions in a few seconds, in whichever language she is using. The third one it does not touch. It takes her name and number, tells her plainly that a nurse will call her back when the clinic opens, and tells her to contact emergency services if it gets worse tonight. That split, between what the agent answers and what it always passes to a person, is the whole job. Get it right and AI call answering in the UAE feels like a good receptionist on the night shift.
This is a playbook for four kinds of UAE business where a missed call usually means a lost customer: clinics, real estate brokerages, salons and car service centres. For the general picture of what a voice agent is, see our guide to AI voice agents for small businesses first. Here we go trade by trade.
Before writing a single line of script, we sort every type of call into two piles. The agent takes logistics: timings, location, availability, bookings, prices you have already published, documents to bring. Your staff take judgement: anything about health, money being negotiated, complaints, contracts and anything the agent would have to guess.
Owners always want to push one more thing into the agent's pile. "Can it just tell them roughly what the repair will cost?" No. A rough figure on a recorded call becomes a promise the caller remembers. If your front desk would check with a manager before answering, the agent should pass it on too.
The second rule is about language. In most UAE businesses the phone rings in Arabic and English on the same shift, often in the same call. The agent should greet in both Arabic and English, follow the caller when they switch, and say local names properly. Test it on Al Barsha, Mirdif, Muwaileh and Khalifa City, not just on "Dubai".
Night calls to a clinic are mostly simple, and perfect for an agent, as long as every answer comes from a list your clinic has approved.
The handover matters as much as the refusal. "A nurse will call you back" is only honest if the morning shift sees a clear list: name, number, language, what the caller said and the time of the call. Otherwise the missed call has just moved to the morning.
A buyer sees a listing on a property portal on Friday afternoon and calls. Your brokers are at viewings with their phones on silent. In property, the agency that calls back first usually gets the viewing, which is why we wrote a separate piece on speed to lead. The agent's job is to turn a ring-out into a qualified lead with a viewing or a broker callback booked.
One detail owners miss: the agent can only say a unit is available if it is connected to your live listings. If it is not, it should say "Let me take your details and the broker will confirm availability", never "Yes, it is available". Telling a caller a flat is free when it was rented last week does more damage than the missed call did.
Most salon calls are one question long. "Do you have a blow-dry at six tonight?" "How much is gel polish?" The receptionist is checking in a client, the phone rings out, and the caller books with the place across the road. Of the four trades, this is the simplest to set up.
The complaint rule is the one we never bend. A caller who is upset about a colour that went wrong does not want a polite machine. The agent apologises once, takes the details and promises a call from the manager. It does not explain, defend or offer a free treatment. That conversation belongs to a person.
Garage calls fall into three types, and each needs different handling.
Booking a service. The agent collects the plate number, make and model, rough mileage and the problem in the caller's own words, such as "a noise from the front left when I brake", then offers a drop-off time. The summary can be written in English for your service advisor whatever language the call was in, so nobody has to translate in the morning.
"Is my car ready?" If your job cards live in a system the agent can read, it can answer. If they live in a notebook or a WhatsApp group, the agent takes the plate number and the advisor calls back.
Breakdowns and recovery. A driver stuck on Sheikh Zayed Road does not want to answer five questions. The agent asks for the location and the plate, then transfers the call straight to whoever handles recovery, with a backup person if the first one does not pick up.
Passed to staff every time: repair quotes, warranty and insurance claims, disputes about a bill, and any caller who is angry about work already done.
English greeting with a short Arabic line, or the reverse? Look at who actually calls you: a family clinic in Al Ain and a salon in Dubai Marina will choose differently. Then test three things:
We learned the value of real-language testing on WhatsApp, not on calls. Customers in Pakistan sent Urdu voice notes, and the speech-to-text sometimes wrote the Urdu in Hindi script, so the AI started replying in Hindi. We fixed it by forcing Urdu transcription. Arabic calls deserve the same treatment: test with the voices your customers really have, on bad lines and in noisy cars, not with one clear speaker in a quiet office.
You keep your existing landline or mobile number. Calls forward to the agent when nobody answers, when the line is busy, or outside your hours. Your telecom provider or office phone system controls those forwarding rules, so the exact options depend on your plan.
This is the order we follow when we set up voice AI for a UAE business:
On privacy: the greeting should say the caller is speaking with an AI assistant and that the call may be recorded. Collect only what the booking needs, never let the agent ask for card numbers, and limit who can hear recordings. Rules on recording and personal data differ by sector and change, so check with your legal adviser before launch, especially for a clinic.
Pricing is usually built from three parts: setup (script, connections, forwarding and testing in both languages), usage charged by the minutes the agent spends on calls, and ongoing care to keep answers current. The useful comparison is not a receptionist's salary. It is what one lost patient, tenant or service booking is worth to you.
When we build these for UAE businesses, the recordings, summaries and leads sit in one dashboard next to the WhatsApp chats, so the person returning calls at 9 am sees the whole story on one screen. There is more about our work in the region on our UAE page.
Start small. Take last week's call log, count the calls that rang out after closing, and pick the trade list above that matches your business. If you want a second pair of eyes on it, book a free call and we will go through your call pattern with you and sketch what the agent should answer and what it should hand to your team.

It can handle everyday spoken Arabic, but accuracy depends on the voice platform, the script and the dialects your callers use. Before launch, have your own Arabic-speaking staff call it the way they really talk, including mixed Arabic and English. Fix whatever it misunderstands before customers hear it.
Yes, in most cases. Your existing number forwards calls to the agent when nobody answers, when the line is busy or after hours. The exact forwarding options depend on your telecom provider and your plan.
It should not, and a properly set up agent will not. It answers timings, doctors' days, bookings, the insurance cards on your list and directions. Anything about symptoms, results or medicines goes to your staff, and callers with anything urgent are told to contact emergency services.
Only if it is connected to your live listings. If not, it should take the caller's details and say the broker will confirm availability. Telling someone a unit is free when it is already rented hurts trust more than a missed call.
Yes, if your booking calendar shows each stylist's slots and the agent can read it. It offers the next free time with that stylist or suggests another one. Bridal and group bookings are better passed to your team.
Breakdowns skip the booking script. The agent asks for the location and plate number, then transfers the call to whoever handles recovery, with a backup person if the first one does not answer. You decide these rules before launch.
We strongly recommend saying it in the greeting, along with a note that the call may be recorded. Rules on recording and personal data can depend on your sector, so confirm your obligations with a legal adviser. Most callers are fine with it when their question gets handled quickly.
It is usually a setup cost plus usage charged by call minutes, and sometimes a monthly fee for updates and monitoring. Your total depends on how many calls you get and how long they last. AMEVIX shares a quote after a short call about your call volume.
Only if you tell it. The agent answers from the information you give it, so update timings before Ramadan, Eid and other public holidays, and whenever a doctor or stylist is on leave. Put a reminder in your own calendar so it does not get forgotten.
Each call can be saved with a recording, a transcript and a short summary against the caller's number in your CRM or dashboard. With AMEVIX, these sit next to your WhatsApp chats and leads, so whoever calls back sees the full story first.
